The Government of Nepal has announced a budget of Rs 1,964.11 billion for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS.
Presenting the budget during a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel outlined the allocation for the upcoming fiscal year.
According to the Finance Minister, Rs 1,180.98 billion (60.1%) has been earmarked for recurrent expenditure, Rs 489 billion (20.8%) for capital expenditure, and Rs 375 billion (19.1%) for fiscal management.
The new budget is 5.6 percent higher than the current fiscal year’s allocation and 18.2 percent higher compared to the revised estimate.
Additionally, Rs 417.83 billion has been allocated for fiscal transfers to provincial and local governments.
To finance the budget, the government plans to raise Rs 1,315 billion through revenue collection and Rs 53.45 billion through foreign grants. The remaining Rs 595.66 billion will be covered through loans — including Rs 362 billion in domestic borrowing and Rs 233.66 billion in foreign loans.
