A total of 26 Nepali nationals have been reported missing following devastating floods and landslides that struck India’s Uttarkashi and Pauri Garhwal districts in the state of Uttarakhand on August 5 and 6.
According to data released by the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, the whereabouts of 21 individuals remain unknown in Uttarkashi district, while five others are missing in Pauri Garhwal.
The missing individuals from Uttarkashi have been identified as:
Janak Bahadur Shahi, Rabi Singh, Karan Bahadur Singh, Gagan Bahadur, Gorakh Bahadur, Ram Bahadur Shahi, Hari Bahadur Khadka, Prabhati, Keshav, Nirmala Khadka, Laxman, Subash BK, Ramesh, Priya, Deepak Magar, Suraj Rana, Man Bahadur, Nim Bahadur, Rabi Singh, and Ram Bahadur.
Similarly, the five individuals reported missing in Pauri Garhwal are:
Naresh Khadka, Amrita Pariyar, Roman Khadka, Sandhya Khadka, and Bimal BK.
Efforts to locate the missing Nepalis are ongoing, and the Embassy has been coordinating with Indian authorities and local rescue teams.
The Embassy has urged the public to stay in contact with local officials and to report any information related to the missing individuals.
