The 25-megawatt Seti River Hydropower Project, built on the Seti River in Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality and Pokhara Metropolitan City of Kaski district, has been completed and officially implemented.
The project was formally inaugurated on Friday and now supplies electricity to the national grid, managed by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
Developed by Vision Lumbini Energy Company Limited, construction of the project began in 2077 BS. The NEA started purchasing electricity from the project in 2081 BS. According to company chairperson Jagat Pokharel, the project has been consistently generating more electricity than specified in the power purchase agreement since it came into operation.
The electricity is transmitted to the NEA’s Lahachok substation through a four-kilometer, 132-kV transmission line. In its first year, the project is expected to generate annual revenue of Rs. 870 million.
The total cost of the project was around Rs. 6 billion, financed through loans from the Employees Provident Fund and the Agricultural Development Bank, with NMB Bank serving as the lead financier.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, former Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, IPPAN Chair Ganesh Karki, and other guests praised Vision Lumbini for setting a high standard in private-sector energy production.
