As part of an ongoing orange promotion programme, 17,500 orange saplings have been distributed to farmers in Ichhakamana Rural Municipality, Chitwan.
The Agriculture Section of the Rural Municipality provided the saplings to farmers in wards 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7, aiming to expand orange cultivation and develop a model orange garden in the region.
According to Section Officer Samikshya Paudel, the distribution included 2,000 colony plants and 15,000 seed plants. “The provincial government supports this initiative to encourage commercial orange farming,” she added.
With the new plantation, the total area under orange cultivation in the municipality has increased from 85 hectares to 90 hectares, marking a significant step toward agricultural diversification and economic empowerment for local farmers.
