Tourism activities are picking up across Koshi Province as the provincial government intensifies efforts to mark Tourism Year 2082 BS. The initiative aims to boost the development and promotion of the province’s tourism industry.
Since the start of the Tourism Year, tourism-related events and visitor numbers in various districts have seen a noticeable rise. The Koshi Province government has set an ambitious goal of attracting 1.5 million domestic and international tourists within the year.
With the growing influx of visitors, local hoteliers, and tourism entrepreneurs are feeling hopeful and excited about the prospects of increased business. “We are extremely pleased. The Tourism Year will revitalize the hotel business," said Tumraj Limbu, Chairman of the Hotel Association of Bhedetar.
The local business community believes that the Tourism Year will serve as a powerful tool to revive the province's tourism sector, helping it reach the heights it enjoyed before the COVID-19 pandemic. Koshi Province is particularly popular among Indian tourists, who continue to make up the largest group of international visitors.
"I truly enjoyed Nepal. It’s even more beautiful than I had heard," shared Kamlesh Sharma, an Indian national visiting Kanyam in Ilam. "We’ve planned to stay here for a week," he added.
To meet the growing demand, districts across the province have expanded their hospitality services, setting up more hotels and promoting homestay programs to offer better accommodations and richer cultural experiences for tourists.
With strong community support and government efforts, Koshi Province is looking forward to a vibrant and successful tourism year ahead.
